Location: Remote, mainly UK based, as travel to our London hub will be required from time to time.

In this role

Ably creates highly-technical products for developers, and it’s the job of the developer documentation team to make sure that developers can learn how to use our products effectively as quickly as possible.

As a Technical Writer in the developer documentation team, you will be responsible for creating content that serves the needs of a highly technical audience.

• Care about developer experience, and want to help reduce the learning curve associated with Ably’s products through creating excellent documentation.
• Enjoy getting hands-on with software, writing code, and explaining what you find to developers.
• Are passionate about your own learning and growth.

• Track record as a technical writer creating documentation for developers.

• Comfortable with at least one markup language such as Markdown, Textile, DocBook or DITA XML.

• Can work in a self-directed manner, but you are also a strong team player. You will be able to build strong relationships across the company.

• Familiarity with OAS3 specifications and using REST APIs.

• A good understanding of web technologies and protocols such as HTTP, REST, WebSockets, HTML and CSS.

• Ability to write code examples in at least one programming language, such as JavaScript or Python.
