About the role: Data Scientist

We are looking for a Data Scientist to be a key player in our data initiatives. Our initiatives are focused on answering complex problems and developing/testing innovative products within the spheres of talent acquisition, workforce management, team dynamics, behavior measurement, and skill development.

As this is a remote position, you would get to experience interacting remotely within an interdisciplinary team in a rapidly growing startup environment. This is a full time position and you will work closely with our highly collaborative research and tech teams, including close contact with the heads of research and tech at nugget.ai, with opportunities to interact directly with other leaders in the company.

What you will do:

• Keeping up-to-date with relevant research topics and findings, theoretical frameworks, and data-focused techniques,

• Designs and builds scalable processes to consolidate, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets,

• Testing, tuning, and optimizing data models and algorithms to hit performance targets,

• Preprocessing data for natural language processing and machine learning, 

• Deeply understanding stakeholder needs and framing data findings within these contextual parameters,

• Shaping data strategy and direction to support or inform product enhancement 

• Exploring data to generate relevant and actionable insights, and can work closely with tech and product team to implement these insights,

• Communicating progress and findings to internal and external stakeholders with varying levels of familiarity with data concepts using different methods (e.g., wikis, presentations, demo environments) along with providing clear and coherent justification for the techniques and approaches used.

What you will need to succeed:

• 2+ years relevant data science experience with proven track record for using a wide analytical toolkit (e.g., linear and logistic regression, decision trees, KNN) to clean, preprocess, and generate actionable insights from data

• Understanding of natural language processing (NLP) techniques (e.g., tokenization, entity extraction; discourse integration; and syntactic, semantic, sentiment, and pragmatic analysis)

• Familiarity with human behaviour, psychology, or cognitive science concepts.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Neurolinguistics, Quantitative Psychology, or related field

Our tech stack:

• 2+ years of professional experience using Python and R to build statistical and machine learning algorithms. Familiarity with Flask in Python and R Markdown and Shiny are highly desirable

• Experience or familiarity with PostgreSQL or MongoDB to extract, transform, or load data

• Hands on experience with PyTorch, Sci-kit Learn, Tensorflow or other similar Machine Learning libraries

• Bonus: Experience with AWS ML Studio or similar
• Bonus: knowledge of parallel programming or multi-processing concepts for building data pipelines
