Job Description
As a Senior Dev Ops Engineer, you will be responsible to understand and anticipate the agile YouNow infrastructure needs, and create an environment where Dev/QA/Staging/Production work can proceed securely, efficiently, and flexibly. In addition you will have the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Implement systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on the AWS platform
- Contribute to architectural, design, and process decisions improving AWS infrastructure
- Use monitoring tools to find problems, resolve and/or escalate to development and ensure that we exceed our SLAs
- Design, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation
- Operate the platform within our security and privacy guidelines
- Contribute to the creation of system support documents such as run books
- Perform load tests and resolve inefficiencies
- Provide time estimates for stories that are executed during 2-week sprint cycles
- Think independently and proactively challenge project assumptions
- Ensure quality assurance by testing your own work, and collaborating with internal QA team before and after release
- Handle code deployments in dev, load test and production environments
- Be responsive and jump on critical issues as they arise
- Follow best practices and process as established by the engineering team and company
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred
- English fluency
- 5+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer
- 4+ years working with AWS and familiarity interacting with the AWS APIs; experience with networking, properly architecting high availability systems, and security in an AWS context; systems auto scalability
- Application clustering / load balancing concepts and technologies
- Proficient in understanding SQL scripts, writing SQL queries, MySQL and Redshift (PostgreSQL)
- Experience upgrading existing infrastructure design and components
- Expertise in using various AWS products and services
- Redis, DynamoDB, MySQL, Redshift
- EC2, Elasticache
- DMS, Cloud formation
- EKS
- Up to date understanding of best practices regarding system security measures
- PHP/Python/Perl development experience is huge plus
