The Paid Acquisition team at Upwork oversees paid channel strategy and optimization. Your team will own a sizable acquisition budget and you will manage that spend like an investment portfolio, creatively and carefully optimizing the return on investment in partnership with Finance. This position reports to the VP, Growth Marketing.
Your Responsibilities:- Oversee media strategy and execution for our acquisition/performance programs globally and set team standards, processes and ways of working across the funnel
- Foster and support a data-driven culture where decisions are supported by market trends, research, and a culture of testing, and analysis
- Build positive relationships with partners in Analytics, Finance and Product and across teams to maintain connections, ensure alignment, and advance priority programs
- Manage and direct internal and outside agency resources to improve impact on performance goals and capability development
- Drive thought leadership in performance marketing by bringing in external research and thinking to evolve and accelerate thinking
- Support projects that advance our marketing and measurement capabilities, including hiring talent and leveraging new technologies, platforms, data, and processes
- Inspire, nurture and grow an adept media/marketing team. Support resourcing, hiring, mentorship, and performance management
- Goal-oriented people manager with a track record of attracting, managing and motivating top media talent
- Proven background managing successful large-scale multi-channel media and marketing programs
- Strong communicator and collaborator who can effectively connect with executive management and partners alike demonstrating poise across different audiences and settings, with the ability to adjust approach accordingly and work with others to achieve collective success
- A strategic marketer who is intellectually curious, proactive, and an opportunistic problem solver and can foster diverse thinking and experimentation among colleagues, including helping team and colleagues find alternative approaches when resources or other blockers exist
- Willingness to challenge the status quo to improve processes and systems
- Experience working to advance marketing maturity Includes data transformation, capability building, and thought leading innovation and analytical expertise collecting and interpreting the right data from a variety of platforms to make informed business recommendations
