Under minimal supervision develops, analyzes, interprets and reports complex financial and operational revenue cycle information to support the strategic vision and business plans in compliance with the health services cost review commission (hscrc), center for medicare and medicaid services (cms), maryland hospital association (msa) as well as all other billing/compliance rules and regulations for university of maryland medical system, a multi-billion dollar, regional healthcare systemInvestigates data outcomes, making decisions on contributing factors and communicating/collaborating with business owners and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals and drive improvement of the overall financial health of the systemGathers and analyzes prospective user needsOptimizes processes under the purview of the analytics and technology division by evaluating current state and presenting recommendations and specificationsProvides support to the manager and executes the functions of the manager in his/her absenceThis position is responsible for the corporate reporting of university of maryland medical system and all its affiliates.
Principle responsibilities and tasks
1Assists management with the supervision of senior analysts and analysts in their day-to-day work activities
2Self-directed prioritization and completion of workSets goals to align with organizational and team needsDesigns spreadsheet and database deliverables using analytic business toolsGenerates monthly, quarterly, and annual system performance reports, scorecards, and dashboardsCommunicates observations to appropriate stakeholdersProduces regulatory submissions for external bodies (including hscrc and mha) in compliance with published requirements and deadlines.
3Ensures data integrity, internal controls, and audit trails are maintainedReviews various datasets at a detail and summary levelAnalyzes data to reconcile, confirm accuracy, and identify variancesResearches outcome drivers and root cause where applicable.
4Manages large revenue cycle and business applications projects including system implementations and upgradesLeads work groupsDefines scope with project sponsorEngages customer to gather project requirementsAssesses needs and establishes timelinesPlans, organizes, and facilitates work planCoordinates with lead user, developer, and information systems and technology (is&t) to create, test and implement the report or process requestedImplements and monitors ongoing process and/or deliverable quality controlsCommunicates effectively with stakeholders, team members, and immediate supervisorProvides information regarding work progress, completed actions, and issues in a timely and effective mannerIntegral resource for preparing comprehensive reporting packets and conducting presentations to umms committees and executive leadership.
5Formats, compiles, organizes, and stores dataDocuments processes clearly for analytics team and prepares end user guides where applicable.
6Provides analytic and technical support to end usersMentors, trains, and provides guidance to analytics and technology division team membersActs as owner and subject matter expert on assigned processes and relationshipsCollaborates with multidisciplinary teams for continual revenue cycle process improvementWhere appropriate, functions as system administrator for business applications/systems, including workflow build and security configuration.

What you need to be successful:
1Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or information technology related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
2Five (5) years’ experience in analyzing and balancing financial and statistical information as well as planning, coordinating, and implementing operational business solutions.
3Proficiency with the following applications: ms excel, ms word, and ms accessPowerpoint & tableau is preferred
4Supervisory/oversight experience preferred.
5Mastery of microsoft office suite, crystal reports, and other business intelligence tools preferred.
Minimal knowledge or demonstrated ability to learn and understand billing and compliance (including hscrc/cms) regulations, cpt (current procedural terminology), icd-10 code sets and business statistics.
