For more information, visit www.data4sdgs.org.The intern will be remote and will be a part of the Global Partnership’s External Relations team. They will report to the Global Partnership’s Communications Manager, and work closely with other colleagues including the Communications Associate and Director of External Relations.
Essential Functions
- Editorial: Assist with drafting stories of impact and other editorial materials including blog posts, reports, and monthly newsletters.
- Social media: Support production by drafting content and assisting to conceptualize and implement outreach campaigns for various GPSDD initiatives and events.
- Website management: Support ongoing updates by adding, editing, and updating content.
- Production: Support the production phase of editorial content from editing to design to publication and promotion.
- Multimedia: Contribute to digital storytelling or data visualization content across various audience groups and platforms; assist with content scripts for videos; assist with editing and archiving video content.
- Convening: Support Global Partnership events and partner convenings through planning, notetaking, logistics, registration, and all aspects of digital coverage for various critical moments on the Global Partnership calendar such as the UN Statistics Commission, UN High-Level Political Forum and UN General Assembly.
- Planning: Support communications planning processes, updating Trello and other planning tools.
- Analytics: Assist with collecting and monitoring digital media analytics and media mentions.
- CRM: Support with ongoing partners’ database updates and management.
- Sector awareness: Attend related events to develop your understanding of how and why data can be used to improve people’s wellbeing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria
- Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
- Background in marketing/communications or public relations preferred.
- Social media experience; confidence using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Medium and Buffer.
- Experience in websites and content management systems.
- Events management experience.
- Knowledge of and strong interest in international development, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the data revolution for sustainable development.
- Knowledge of data science, data analysis, and/or data visualization will be an advantage.
- Strong written communication skills including demonstrated use of proper grammar and clear style.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral skills.
- Experience in Word, Excel, Outlook and G-suite essential.
- Experience in Google Analytics, Mailchimp, video editing is desirable.
- Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
- Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.
- Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
