SimX is a fast-growing startup bringing virtual and augmented reality to medical simulation training. Our product is the first comprehensive professional-grade VR medical simulation system, and it is used by our customers to train physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals. Since our product has become generally available, demand has exploded and we're in need of new engineering team members to move our product forward.
Our company has an ambitious and high-impact purpose: to transform the way physicians and allied health professionals are trained in order to take a dent out of the more than 400,000 people who die every year from preventable medical errors. We're a high-powered team consisting of about half medical professionals and half engineers, all of whom have dedicated their time to achieving our mission. THE JOB
As a Lead Design Producer at SimX, you will be managing the team of Scenario Production and Design Specialists responsible for designing and producing medical VR training scenarios and related features for our VR platform. You will report directly to the Director of Product Operations, while the Scenario Production and Design Specialists will report directly to you. The Lead Design Producer will be responsible for ensuring that production work remains aligned with the strategic roadmap set by the Director of Product Operations. This will involve overseeing Scenario Production and Design Specialist project work and timelines, identifying and communicating roadblocks to production and delivery, and working across departments to ensure that delivery deadlines are met. Additional and more specific responsibilities will include assisting on project work when necessary, managing curriculum-level case design and production processes, and overseeing the design and implementation of new complicated tools and procedures.
As a startup team member, you'll have a wide variety of responsibilities that will evolve as our needs change. This role will require you to be flexible and help us better define the role as we continue to grow.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assigning and managing project workload for Scenario Production and Design Specialists to achieve strategic roadmap
- Matching project work to sprints
- Managing Scenario Production and Design Specialist personnel, including organizing department-specific onboarding sessions and conducting annual reviews
- Managing and maintaining Asana case projects, when appropriate
- Working closely with Dev and QA teams to ensure project requirements are being communicated across teams effectively
- Overseeing curriculum-level case design and production processes
- Overseeing design and implementation of complicated tools and tool systems
- Managing the customer case feedback categorization and prioritization process
- Facilitating in the creation of design documentation to enhance efficiency in case creation pipeline
- Leading/assisting the Scenario Production team in process improvement projects
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
2 years of professional experience with virtual or augmented reality production or research.
Expertise in VR and/or AR platforms, such as the Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index, Gear VR, and Hololens.
Extensive experience managing large simultaneous projects in a fast paced environment.
Self-motivated, organized, and strategic problem-solver.
Willing to work on a flexible schedule, including evening meetings.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Permanent residence in the United States.
Willingness to travel occasionally for work.
