We are located in the Washington, DC area and are looking for the right candidate to join as a DevOps Engineer.
This position will support the NOAA National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS) Integrated Information Services contract. This is a mid to senior level DevOps position supporting variety of projects to evaluate emerging technologies and solutions for the enterprise. Ideal candidates will have strong technical aptitude, hands on programming capability, curiosity, and desire to build cool innovative tools while working as a member of an Agile team. This position involves work in a Linux/AWS Cloud environment supporting analytics focused cloud data architectures.
The Engineer will collaborate with the AWS Cloud Architect and AWS DevOps/Automation Engineer in architecting, configuring, and testing AWS cloud native services to implement an authoritative data environment using AWS services.
The DevOps engineer will support the design and implementation of best of breed cloud services across several major cloud service providers, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure (Azure).
US citizenship, living in the US for the last 3 years and the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance are mandatory requirements for this position. This position can be remote with occasional onsite support in Silver Spring, MD. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design and build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large- and small-scale systems
- Design and implement fully automated enterprise pipelines using a suite of DevOps tools: Jenkins, Terraform, Hashicorp Vault, OpenShift, Docker, OpenShift, Ansible, Chef, Github, Nexus, Hashicorp Vault, Graylog
- Collaborate with team to develop, stand-up, and support of cloud platform using a variety of programming languages and cloud-native technologies.
- Develop and implement systems using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, etc.)
- Automate cloud deployments, as well as build CI/CD pipeline to support cloud based workloads
- Provide experienced knowledge and/or develop competency on Terraform, Ansible, Cloud native automation tools
- Stay on top of the latest trends and develop expertise in emerging cloud technologies
- Experience with AWS services such as Amazon S3, Amazon RedShift, DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, AWS QuickSearch, Amazon EMR, Elastic Search, Amazon Glue, Amazon Athena, Amazon Sage Maker etc.
- Proficient in AWS services: API Gateway, WAF, Lambda, SQS, EC2, IAM, S3, Security Group, VPC, etc.
- Strong familiarity with modern DevOps principles, practices, methods, and tools.
- Provide implementation guidance/support to the customer throughout the project life cycle.
- Develop tools and documentation to enable the support organizations to resolve customer issues, including complex technical scenarios dealing with cloud architecture.
- Design containerization (Docker, etc.) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, etc.) framework solutions in deployment and operations
- Integrate systems using a wide variety of protocols like REST, SOAP, MQ, TCP/IP, JSON, and others.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or related discipline; MS Preferred
- In-depth understanding of cloud computing technologies, IT business drivers, and emerging computing trends and technologies.
- 5+ years of experience developing & engineering enterprise Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) using leading cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. Must include networking, compute, storage, database, identify management/access control, monitoring, etc.
- 5+ years of experience in Linux and/or Windows
- Must possess hands-on experience with some of these using industry standard DevOps tools (CI/CD, CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk, Git, scripting, Gradle, Maven, Chef, Puppet, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.)
- Must possess hands-on experience building Micro-Service Architectures and decoupled systems (Lambda, Azure Functions)
- Experience with monitoring and network management tools and technologies and network engineering concepts (IPsec, Routing, NAT, DNS).
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies and cloud infrastructure, including networking, VPCs, S3, RDS, ELB, Route53, HPC, SQS, Auto Scaling, Direct Connect, VGWs, and DNS.
- Experience with Azure cloud technologies including ARM, VN, Blob, Files, VMs, ACS, VM Scale Sets, PaaS services Etc.
- Working knowledge of FEDRAMP and extensive experience applying best practices for building/deploying secure and reliable services and applications on FEDRAMP- compliant Cloud platforms
- Experience using coding languages such as Perl, Java, PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, etc.
- Preferred Certifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional;
- Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies; Architect with Google Cloud Platform:
- Infrastructure, MS Network Certifications
