We recently raised 57€ million through a partnership with a global growth equity firm and are seeking a Head of Performance Marketing with experience scaling influencer marketing and paid acquisition programs across multiple channels—particularly on search, social, video and display, ideally globally—managing substantial monthly spend. You will lead a current team of five which is growing; and collaborate closely with our creative, content, CRM, data and product teams to identify opportunities, prioritize, structure experiments, and drive improvements throughout the acquisition funnel.
This position is based in Berlin or working remotely and requires a working proficiency in English.
Your mission with us
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the performance marketing strategy and for leading your team to grow student acquisition while maintaining or improving unit economics in our key markets (United States, DACH, and France) and beyond.
You will achieve this by
Leading the strategy and team. First and foremost, you will own our influencer marketing program and substantial paid media budget and balance both efficiency and growth as we pursue ambitious student acquisition targets across multiple markets. You will hold yourself and your growing team of 5+ accountable, and help bring greater structure, process, and data-driven strategies to the table.
Collaborating cross-functionally. You will coordinate with Country Managers, creatives, developers and analysts to align your strategy with overall business goals and ensure strong execution. You’ll share learnings and best practices and contribute to our culture of growth and inclusion.
Leveraging experimentation. Whether it’s new targeting, creative, calls to action, behavioral triggers, landing page optimization, bidding methods, account structure, new channels or incrementality and cannibalization tests, not a day will go by when you are not leading new experiments—win, lose or simply learn.
Prioritizing and budgeting. With so many optimizations and growth opportunities, you’ll need to assess potential ROI, support budget requests, and allocate resources to the highest value activities—and quickly. You’ll bring data-driven frameworks to help organize ideas into a roadmap for success.
Analyzing and reporting. You will leverage your analyst and partner with our central data team to ensure all tactics are measurable and incremental, and own the reporting and analysis of your initiatives—including surfacing insights to the executive team on a regular basis.
Proven results. We think experience is best measured in results and intensity (not years), but you need to have been in the performance marketing game a while. You also need to have meaningful experience growing at least a few channels from scratch and managing a team of 5+. We’re thinking 7+ years and ownership of at least a €500k+ monthly performance media budget, ideally with international experience.
Performance leadership. Leadership is a calling for you and you know how to inspire employees of all types. You possess empathy for each of your team members, but hold them, and yourself, to the highest standards. You’ve contributed to or led a performance marketing team that’s doubled or tripled in scale.
Strategic and executional balance. It’s tough to manage sophisticated functions like paid advertising and CRO if you haven’t mastered them yourself. You know your way around Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, database and website optimization tools and more—and can pitch in if needed. We’re looking for someone who excelled as an individual contributor, and whose skill set has not eroded as they became a leader and strategic thinker.
A love for data. Garbage in, garbage out. You know the importance of clean data, working pipelines, and actionable dashboards. You have no issues navigating tools like Google Analytics or Data Studio, and can instrument and measure the funnel as well as speak the language of CLV/CAC, ROI, payback periods and incrementality. Ideally, you’ve worked in a more complex environment with data from multiple countries and multiple products.
