Job Description
As a coding instructor, you will be required to work with the Koder Bootcamps team to create curriculum (pre-recorded videos and live classes) for mini 2-week coding bootcamps and full 3-month coding bootcamp programs. You'll lead lectures, host office hours and support students through exercises designed to embed key full stack software development concepts.
What You’d Do
· Work with curriculum team to develop highly engaging material for Koder's live and on-demand coding bootcamps.
· Be an on-camera personality for curriculum content.
· Create mini project assignments, code-alongs, and interactive exercises for students.
· Participate in live office hours where learners can ask questions.
· Teach a variety of coding-related topics in the form of mini videos that learners will review before coming to live office hours.
· Deliver technical coaching and support to students, developing their coding skills and understanding of and ability to effectively communicate about difficult technical concepts.
· Help resolve issues and guide students through code debugging and technical problem-solving.
· Engage with students throughout live Zoom-like classes and office hours.
· Develop and asses the skills and capabilities of students throughout bootcamps.
· Collaborate with the Koder Bootcamps team to create and review program improvements.
· Participate in chat rooms and discussions with other instructors and students.
· Collaborate with the product team to create innovations to improve Koder’s [U] platform, a bootcamp platform for the creator economy.
· Establish a workspace at home or office for classes.
· Invest 15-20 hours a week into this role.
Qualifications
· Experienced in working as a full stack software developer.
· Fluent in CSS (Bootstrap), JavaScript and HTML.
· Understanding of CSS preprocessors including Sass and LESS.
· Proficiency with server-side languages such as ASP.NET Core, Python, Ruby, or .NET.
· Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and SQL Server.
· Strong knowledge of building REST APIs
· Strong knowledge of C#
· Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, Angular JS, React, and/or Amber.
· Nice to have a minimal understanding of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AngularJS, Express. js, React, Ember and Node
· Excellent English communication and writing skills.
· Experienced in teaching or interest in trying to.
· Experience working remotely (or desire to start).
· Experienced in public speaking or interest in trying to.
· Good problem-solving skills.
· Charisma and enthusiasm a huge plus
· High-speed internet connection and a device with video conferencing capabilities.
· Collaborative, energetic, empathetic and a great technical problem solver.
· Flexibility to work in PST time zone (afternoons/evenings and weekends a huge plus)
NOTE: We’re also looking for mentors and instructor assistants that have experience coding but may not be in a position to be a coding instructor just yet.
Salary: $20-$45/hour depending on experience
