Senior VFX Artist
IllFonic is seeking an experienced and talented Senior VFX Artist to join our team on our next great title for PC and consoles. Do you have an amazing eye for creating amazing, mind-blowing effects? About the Company
Founded in 2007, IllFonic is an independent video game developer and publisher with studios in Lakewood, Colorado, Tacoma, Washington, and Austin, Texas. Our staff is composed of video game, music, and technology veterans redefining how indie and middle-market games are made and marketed. Past titles and collaborations include Arcadegeddon, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Friday the 13th: The Game, Dead Alliance, Star Citizen, Evolve, Armored Warfare, and Nexuiz.
Responsibilities
- Creating high quality visual effects from concepts and design ideas
- Create VFX pipelines and techniques that work with multiple platforms
- Responsible for technical and aesthetic considerations for the VFX art style
- Solicit feedback from designers and art director to accommodate gameplay and art features into the environment
- Communicate with programmers, designers and tech artists as needed to bring tasks to completion
- Work with the art director, tech artists and the lead environment artist to bring a cohesive artistic vision to life
- Maintain a high artistic quality bar for the game
Requirements
- Portfolio of work demonstrating strong proficiency as a VFX Artist
- At least 2 shipped titles using Unreal Engine
- A firm understanding of PBR compliance and lighting
- Experience with node-based shader editors for use in real time engines
- Experience with multiplayer games and/or shooters
- Experience with Houdini, PopcornFX, Realflow, Cascade or Niagara
- Experience with a scripting language - Mel, Python, or Maxscript
- 4+ years professional experience developing high quality game titles
- Passion for playing and creating games
- Self-driven with strong communication skills
- Proven experience tackling challenges and problem solving with a strong sense of ownership
- Proven experience working closely with many other disciplines as well as being a team player
- Advanced understanding of AfterFx, Photoshop, ZBrush
