The Role: Marketing Intern, Research and Insights

About This Role
We are looking for a Marketing Intern, Research and Insights to join Hazel’s Marketing and Communications team this fall. The successful candidate will support efforts to uncover insights about our customers and markets through qualitative research to help the organization improve its brand, communications, and product strategy.
As an intern on the team, you will have the opportunity to gain real, valuable experience on high-impact projects. Here at Hazel, we value different points of view as well as your growth - therefore, you will be an important voice in team meetings, have ample opportunities to receive feedback, and will have the support of a cohort, working alongside two other fall marketing interns.
What You’ll Do:
- Support with a range of qualitative research projects through methodologies including focus groups, interviews and observational studies, by writing questionnaires and facilitating discussions
- Create user journey maps and user personas to help us better understand our audience groups
- Assist with the creation of research panels
- Contribute to competitive market analysis
- Read and digest new research surrounding pediatric health care and education and document key data points
- Other marketing and communications projects, as needed
About You:

- Currently enrolled in a college or university
- Interest in learning about customer, product, and market research
- Curious, collaborative and empathetic in nature
- Ability to look at information both analytically and creatively to translate data into trends, patterns and stories
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail
- Proficient in Google Slides and Google Forms
- A can-do attitude and excitement about working at a rapidly growing start up
- Passion for mission-driven work, especially health and education equity
- Nice to haves: Knowledge in qualitative research methods, Spanish fluency
Position Details:
- This paid internship will run for 10 weeks, from mid- to late-September through mid-December (coinciding with winter break). There will be a one week break for Thanksgiving.
- We require at least 16-20 hours of work per week
- Successful candidates will work with their manager to create a regular weekly schedule based around academic commitments, which must include at least one full 8 hour day, and 2-3 additional 4-8 hour work days; we will try to ensure that at least one day overlaps with other interns in the cohort.
- $25/hour ($400/week for 16 hours, $500/week for 20 hours)
- Hazel’s teammates live all over the country and most work remotely. Hazel has offices in San Francisco, CA, Truckee, CA and Irving, TX. As an intern at Hazel, you may work remotely, from one of the company’s three offices, or in a hybrid model. There are also opportunities for in-person collaboration in New York, NY, where the manager for this position is based.
