Position Summary
The Managing Editor, History, plays a critical role in creating excellent content and providing proactive and effective management for the growing History team.
Through exceptional organization and communication, the Managing Editor will support the Director, History in guiding products through the Great Minds product life cycle and driving work forward. The Managing Editor will also contribute to the creation and maintenance of team guidelines and resources, coordinate team scheduling and meetings, and facilitate cross-team communications and collaboration.
The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and drive to innovate while remaining committed to the Great Minds’ organizational mission. While the work is remote and the ideal candidate will work well independently, this will also be a highly collaborative position, necessitating a strong sense of teamwork and cooperation.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director, History, on the development of team communications, resources, schedules, and work plans with a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Work in partnership with project management team on the execution of solutions-oriented internal team and cross-team systems
- Maintain ongoing communication with other Humanities team leaders to facilitate product development, identify and address issues, and provide support and guidance
- Develop and maintain processes, tools, and strategies for the development and execution of content projects
- Ensure and adhere to a task- and deadline-driven work-flow by completing the appropriate scope and sequence of work within the timeline required at each phase
- Problem solve to create high-quality products by established deadlines
- Familiarity with a mindset that values that values an iterative cycle of ideation, including thought partnering, prototyping, drafting, development, review, and revision
- Exemplify Great Minds culture in all work environments, with an emphasis on trust, collegiality, continuous improvement, and quality
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience managing and/or leading teams
- Deep content knowledge in History, Social Studies, or associated content area
- Alignment to the philosophy, instructional design, and pedagogy of Great Minds’ knowledge-building vision
- Strong written, verbal, and social communication skills needed to incorporate different points of view in service of developing a high quality product aligned to the organizational and product vision
- Strong organizational habits necessary for successful goal setting, project management, collective decision making, deadline execution, and record keeping
- Demonstrated aptitude in preparing agendas that advance the appropriate priorities, serve the needs of various stakeholders, adhere to established meeting norms, orient the group toward decision making, and clearly record next steps
- Capacity to balance a variety of tasks, responsibilities, and projects with multiple deadlines
- Facility working with tools required within digital spaces (e.g. Google Suite)
- Ability to make solutions-oriented decisions through flexible thinking in an ambiguous, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Capacity to receive and then apply external and internal content feedback from advisors, senior leadership, consultants, and colleagues
- Ability to manage competing priorities, prioritize work streams and resources to meet goals, and communicate effectively with others to achieve objectives and meet deadlines

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role. For residents of the State of Colorado the expected salary range for this position is $63,353.99 – $74,440.94. This range may vary above and below the expected amounts in the State of Colorado. In addition to the Company's benefit offerings, the position may be eligible for additional annual incentives at the Company's discretion. Any offered salary and other incentives are based on market data, applicant skills and relevant experience, degrees, certifications and internal equity considerations.
