Position Summary
The Lead Content Editor, Assessment will support the Managing Editor, Assessment in the launch, implementation, and execution of the Great Minds Humanities assessment strategy. The Lead Content Editor will be responsible for maintaining quality control of assessments and reports, monitoring and improving team processes, providing clear documentation of guidelines, and supporting cross-team communication. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented editor who possesses K-12 content knowledge and pedagogical expertise, experience in digital assessment development, passion for high-quality, knowledge-building curriculum, and the belief that every child is capable of greatness. While the work is remote, this will also be a highly collaborative position, necessitating a strong sense of teamwork and cooperation.
Responsibilities
- Support the Managing Editor, Assessment in the implementation of the Great Minds Humanities assessment strategy by:
- Ensuring high-quality and on-time completion of all assessment and reporting deliverables throughout the production lifecycle
- Implementing a process for providing editorial oversight during the review cycle of assessment products to maintain quality control
- Informing, monitoring, and consistently improving a sound process for digital assessment development, including digital authoring and/or ingestion into a Content Management System (CMS)
- Implementing processes to ensure that assessment, especially digital, is integrated with the curriculum and learning design of Great Minds Humanities products
- Maintaining and developing training programs and onboarding processes for curriculum developers to build their knowledge and understanding of the functionality of the digital assessment platform
- Reviewing assessments created by the curriculum development teams and providing clear and timely feedback aligned to the Humanities Team vision for assessments
- Problem-solve to help the curriculum development teams build capacity to create high-quality integrated assessment products by established deadlines
- Provide technical expertise in an advisory capacity to the curriculum development teams by collaborating on drafts of test documents, including maps, blueprints, scoring guidance, and any other technical specifications
- Curate and consistently iterate resources to ensure that the curriculum development teams continuously grow capacity for conceptualizing, writing, and editing of written and digital assessments
- Collaborate with the curriculum development team leadership to provide educative feedback, timely support, and just-in-time PD for assessment developers, curriculum developers, and curriculum development team reviewers
- Represent the Assessment Team in communications with internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and proficiency when called upon to do so
- Conduct research in support of assessment development
- 5-6 years of relevant experience
- Experience working in a digital curriculum and assessment development role in the area of literacy
- Knowledge of and experience working with Learnosity or an equivalent digital assessment platform
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional efforts with a collaborative approach
- Deep content knowledge in English, literature, or literacy (additional expertise with social studies curriculum development and instructional design an added bonus)
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts
- Familiarity with a mindset that values an iterative cycle of ideation, including thought partnering, prototyping, drafting, development, review, and revision
- Proficiency with or alignment to Wit & Wisdom’s instructional design and pedagogy
- Strong editing skills with the capacity to handle incredibly precise and detail-oriented work, using a complicated set of editorial guidelines
- Impeccable social and oral communication and writing skills, including the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse set of personalities in a variety of positions
- Clear and succinct writing skills, with the ability to produce content aligned to the organizational and product vision
- Strong organizational habits necessary for successful goal setting, project management, collective decision making, deadline execution, and record keeping
- Facility working with tools required within digital spaces (e.g. Sharepoint, Excel)
- Avid commitment to and concern for the details required for accomplishing a task, no matter how small
- Demonstrated empathy for the user experience of teachers and students in digital assessment environments

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role. For residents of the State of Colorado the expected salary range for this position is $63,353.99 – $74,440.94. This range may vary above and below the expected amounts in the State of Colorado. In addition to the Company's benefit offerings, the position may be eligible for additional annual incentives at the Company's discretion. Any offered salary and other incentives are based on market data, applicant skills and relevant experience, degrees, certifications and internal equity considerations.
