DevOps Engineer (Database)

DNSFilter was born out of necessity. Our founders realized that the existing solutions for DNS security out there were clunky, convoluted and over priced. In 2015, they set out on a simple yet crucial mission—to revolutionize DNS security. We’ve come a long way since our humble beginnings. We support nearly 14,000 organizations, including Fortune 500 customers like NVIDIA, and provide service to millions of end users. Our infrastructure is made up of two anycast networks with over 300 servers in 53 datacenters. At the start of 2020, our software was processing 1B queries/day. One year later, we’re now processing 12B queries/day! In the middle of a global pandemic, our team (and product) thrived. We doubled the size of our team, and we’re looking to do it all over again in 2021.

To ensure a robust and comprehensive infrastructure, we need a DevOps Engineer with specific experience in database reliability, scaling database operations, and who can easily switch between architecting and operating databases. We’re looking for a person with strong problem solving skills who is a tinkerer at heart, takes pride in their work, and is intrinsically motivated to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Because this position will collaborate heavily with the rest of our remote team, we want a (near) native English speaker who can work within a five hour overlap of EST/EDT. Unfortunately at this time we cannot offer visas.

You will:

• Design and build solutions to automate our DB platforms, configuration and administration procedures with an IAC mindset
• Design and optimize DBA tasks including configuration management, backup/recovery, performance tuning, monitoring and space management
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems across various tiers with applications and database systems
• Provide Production 24x7 support
• Mentor other team DevOps team members in DB best practices and routine support tasks
  

You have:

• Native English speaking ability
• Experience with high volume PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, or Clickhouse implementations
• Experience with remote bare metal implementations
• Experience as part of Agile DevOps team
• Experience with Jira, Zendesk, Ansible, Terraform, and other similar tools
• Experience with PagerDuty and working on call in a 24/7 environment

Bonus points for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar field, or extensive experience in the software industry
• Experience providing technical support to enterprise customers
• Experience working with other NoSQL databases

• Experience working remotely
