POSITION OVERVIEWThe IT Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the hotel's IT infrastructure, systems, and network operations. This role ensures seamless IT service delivery, data security, and effective communication between departments. As a member of the hotel’s leadership team, the IT Manager works to enhance guest experiences through technology while ensuring compliance with industry standards, hotel policies, and data protection regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIESBudgeting and Finance- Assist in preparing the annual business plan for the department.
- Control costs whilst ensuring guests and hotel get value for money.
Communication
- Communicate effectively within the organization at all levels using the most appropriate communication method for the matter concerned.
- Conduct regular brief, concise, well-prepared departmental meetings and ensure follow-up.
Technical Expertise- Responsible for smooth functioning of all systems related to Guest Internet, Opera PMS, Simphony Point of Sale, other software vendors. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
- Should have working knowledge of Opera PMS, Simphony POS, Back Office Accounting Applications like Sun Systems, Inventory systems and also should be able to handle HR/Payroll Related Application software’s & Access Control systems.
- Responsible for upkeep of Wi-Fi systems and should be able to resolve Guest related internet issues.
- Responsible for overseeing and handling network configuration, Servers, Workstations, Networking equipment, Email Account and support for server/desktop/printer infrastructure.
- Responsible for updating all systems and processes as per the guidelines of the Corporate IT.
- Verify that all hardware is operating efficiently, and periodic maintenance inspections are properly performed.
- Monitor all system operations and verify that they are operated properly. Provide training when deemed necessary. Report any problems to superior.
- Verify that employees are not misusing the computer systems. Maintain a plan for protecting the system.
- Maintain communication with hardware and software vendors. Update contracts and prepare budgets relating to system operations. Ensures that all systems are covered by the proper maintenance contracts and that preventive maintenance is performed as required
- Keep up to date with the latest computers, operation methods and application software. Recommend system upgrades.
- Monitor all alterations of data and the system and items taken out of the systems area.
- Verify data is updated daily and monthly as well as saved.
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly back-ups are performed and implemented without fail
- Ensure all back-ups are kept in a fire-proof location off property.
- Take care of ownership rights and copyrights for all software used by the hotel.
- Conduct “Self-Audit” of systems, security and emergency procedures according to the Hotel and Financial System Security Manuals.
- Other duties as instructed by a superior.
- Follow guidelines as per the Corporate IT
- Follow Corporate IT Policy and implement in the Property.

QUALIFICATIONSDegree or Diploma in Information Technology field. Along with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems, Microsoft or Cisco certification.
- Applicable Microsoft certifications: MCSA, MCTS or MCITP for Windows Server, MCDST for workstations.
Required
- At least 5 years previous experience
- Position is open to Sri Lankan Nationals only.
- Overseas working experience in the same field would be an advantage.
- Must be prepared to be hands-on for 400 year old Heritage hotel.
- Must have excellent administration and communication skills.
- Above average competency in spoken and written English would be required
