The Staff Product Software Engineer candidate will have experience building and architecting software as part of a larger team. The ideal candidate will work effectively with security and engineering teams to automate, architect, design security tools, and assist development teams on security initiatives. This role is great for a developer who wants to get into the security space.
What You'll Do- Technical strategy for the implementation of automation security tooling.
- Participating in the strategic development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects and programs
- Partner with Affirm product teams to ensure that security is included in every phase of the product development lifecycle.
- Collaborating with engineers across the security team and organization to build, support, and enhance security programming projects.
- Assist product teams in the development of security focused test cases to enforce security requirements.
- Decompose large, cross-team projects into individual tasks. Manage scope across teams and drive toward project closure.
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer with leadership responsibilities.
- Prior experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining complex systems
- You are empathetic to the user experience and thoughtful about what we can do to make it better
- Understanding of continuous integration / continuous deployment processes and tools.
- Bonus for having a security background, but not required
- BS degree in related field or equivalent experience. MS degree in a related field or equivalent experience is a plus.
Location - Remote Canada

The majority of our roles are remote and can be located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada (with the exception of the U.S. Territories, Quebec, Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories) unless the job indicates a different global location. Employees in remote roles have the option of working remotely or from an Affirm office in their country of hire, and may occasionally travel to an Affirm office or elsewhere for required meetings or team-building events.
