Our Client based in Phoenix, Arizona has a platform that enables real estate investors to flip houses quickly, securely, and easily. Analyze, budget, fund, and sell deals. The faster, smarter way to fix and flip. They provide 7% loans, a full scope of work, and a contract to buy it when you’re done.
Role Summary
- Drive the design, implementation, and adoption of internal APIs
- Work with SQL databases and collaborate with the data team
- Champion best practices in software development and Agile methodologies
- Build software using test-driven development, with an eye for good design patterns
- Collaborate heavily with Product Management, Analytics, and Salesforce team members as well as the executive leadership team
- Cultivate empathy with stakeholders to help realize and deliver the optimal UIX
- Mentor junior members of the engineering team.
- As a Senior Back End Engineer, you will work on all parts of our web Fund and Sell application, its libraries, widgets, and custom features. Our tech stack includes React, Node, GraphQL, GitHub, Postgres, JavaScript, CSS, and a variety of AWS cloud-native technologies.
Job Requirements
- Strong grasp of data modeling (database normalization, tradeoffs of mutability vs. immutability, append-only structures, etc.)
- Reasonably familiar with infrastructure components, particularly the AWS flavors (containerization, security groups, performance tuning, auto-scaling, deployment methodologies, database failover behavior, etc.)
- Comprehensive understanding of how HTTP requests work (e.g. DNS resolution, TLS, mutual TLS, connection persistence, different types and behaviors of redirects, chunked requests, etc.)
- Comprehensive understanding of GraphQL (schema definition language, mutations, subscriptions, maintaining a GraphQL API in production, etc.)
- Good grasp of observability concepts (logging, metrics, tracing, etc.)
- Expert-level experience with Typescript and Javascript
- Advanced knowledge Postgres or similar relational databases (indexing tradeoffs & behavior, types, roles/permissions, query planning, SQL joins/subqueries/GROUP BYs/etc.)

- In-depth knowledge of security best practices
