We are looking to add a talented Frontend Software Engineer to build, launch, and maintain products and experiences to help our customers improve student outcomes. The role will involve working with others to build new product features from beginning to end, including conception, research, implementation, and maintenance.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate across functions to understand user problems in order to ideate, scope solutions, and implement them.
- Lead projects and coordinate efforts across engineering, product, data science, and customer success teams.
- Improve performance, reliability, and user experience in our products.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to shape our long term product vision.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to shape our long term technical vision.
- Proactively define/maintain best practices, mentor other engineers, and lead by example
- Foster inclusive relationships and collaborate cross functionally with Designers, Data Scientists, education experts and other Engineers.
Ideal candidate has:
- Experience architecting, developing, and testing frontend code
- Experience building applications with modern frontend web tooling (we use React, Apollo, Webpack, and more)
- Experience working with large, complex datasets in a frontend application
- Empathy for team members and a passion for diversity and equitable outcomes
- A track record of leading complex technical projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide in-depth evaluation of multiple technical directions and determine tradeoffs of each
Bonus Points if:
- You are passionate about education and equity
- You have experience with Ruby on Rails (our backend is Rails)
- You have experience driving initiatives at a company level
- You have experience working at a remote tech startup
- B.A/B.S in Computer Science or related field
